Still Chosen

The Jewish people are still chosen.

That simple statement might raise eyebrows, spark questions, or stir emotions. Yet, it is a profound truth rooted deeply in Scripture and history.

It’s a message we’re proud to wear boldly on our Road Gear “Still Chosen” shirt, not as a mere slogan but as a declaration of God’s enduring faithfulness.

The Origin of the Promise: Genesis 12

The story begins with Abraham in Genesis 12. God’s call to Abram, later renamed Abraham, marks a pivotal moment in the biblical narrative. God said:

"Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

This promise was not just about Abraham or his immediate descendants. It was a covenant that carried eternal weight, with implications for all humanity. Through Abraham, God set apart a people—the Jewish people—to be His chosen instrument for blessing the nations.

What Does It Mean to Be Chosen?

Being chosen didn’t mean privilege without purpose. For the Jewish people, it meant bearing witness to the one true God in a world filled with idols. It meant receiving the Torah, God’s instructions for life, and living as a light to the nations.

Yet, it also meant facing relentless opposition. Pharaohs, empires, and tyrants have tried to erase the Jewish people from history, but they still remain. Why? Because God’s promises are irrevocable (Romans 11:29).

The Misunderstanding: Erasing or Replacing the Jewish People

One of the greatest tragedies in church history is the rise of replacement theology, the idea that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan. This theology implies that God’s promises to the Jewish people are null and void, transferred instead to the “Gentile church.”

But Scripture tells a different story. Paul, himself a Jew and a follower of Yeshua (Jesus), wrote in Romans 11:1:

"I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin."

Paul goes on to describe the Jewish people as the natural olive tree, into which Gentiles are grafted. This isn’t a replacement. The Gentile at his conversion is spiritually grafted into the good olive tree and becomes a part-taker, not an all-taker, with the Jewish believers. The Jewish people remain central to God’s plan.

The Call to Bless the Families of the Earth

Genesis 12 contains one of the most profound truths in Scripture: “In you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

How has this promise played out?

  1. Through the Messiah: Jesus (Yeshua), the promised Messiah, came through the Jewish people. His life, death, and resurrection fulfilled God’s promise to bring salvation to all nations.

  2. Through the Scriptures: Every word of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, was penned by Jewish hands, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

  3. Through God’s Preservation: The survival of the Jewish people, against all odds, is a testament to God’s faithfulness.

The Modern Struggle: Rising Antisemitism

Today, the Jewish people face growing hostility. From the Holocaust to modern-day antisemitism, the forces of darkness have sought to destroy them. Yet, the Jewish people endure.

Why? Because God’s hand is still on them. They are still His chosen people, still called to bless the nations.

The Church’s Role: Standing with Israel

As believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we have a responsibility. Paul reminds Gentile believers in Romans 11:18:

"Do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you."

The Jewish people are the root of the faith. The church doesn’t stand apart from them but is grafted into their story.

Standing with Israel and the Jewish people isn’t about politics or nationalism; it’s about aligning ourselves with God’s heart.

A Call to Action

The words "Still Chosen" are not just a reminder - they are a call to action.

  • To Pray: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). Pray for the Jewish people to know their Messiah.

  • To Educate: Learn about the Jewish roots of your faith. Teach others about the unbroken thread of God’s promise.

  • To Stand: Stand against antisemitism in all its forms. Be a voice for truth in a world of lies.

  • To Bless: Support ministries that bring relief, restoration, and renewal to Israel.

The Promise is Unbreakable

God’s covenant with the Jewish people is not just a historical footnote; it is a living testament and reality. As we wear the words “Still Chosen,” we declare to the world that God is faithful.

  • Faithful to Abraham.

  • Faithful to Israel.

  • Faithful to His Word.

And if He is faithful to them, He will be faithful to us.

Far From Over

The story of the Jewish people is far from over. It is hurtling toward a glorious conclusion when the Messiah will return and reign from Jerusalem.

Until that day, we stand boldly with Israel, declaring that the Jewish people are still chosen, still loved, and still part of God’s eternal plan.

"For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet." (Isaiah 62:1)

Wear it boldly. Share it boldly. The Jewish people are Still Chosen.

About The Jewish Road

At the heart of The Jewish Road lies a passion ignited by a father-son duo, Ron and Matt Davis. Our journey began with a simple yet profound desire: to bridge the gap in understanding that has kept two faith communities apart for too long. We're here to help Christians connect with the roots of their faith and for Jews to explore the life and teachings of Jesus with an open heart.

Imagine a world where every believer, be they Jewish or Christian, not only knows their faith but truly understands its origins and interconnectedness. We strive to restore the Jewish essence of the Gospel, offering insights that deepen knowledge, bolster faith, and propel the growth of the Kingdom. The narrative of faith, we believe, is a two-act play where both acts are essential for a comprehensive grasp of the story. By uniting these acts, we're presenting a more holistic and enriching perspective.

Life is too short to wander without knowing the full essence of your beliefs. Whether you're attending a synagogue or a church, there's so much more to discover. The Jewish Road is here to guide, enlighten, and, most importantly, bring both halves of the story together. Join us on this journey; together
