A preparation of the heart.

In the gospel of John, there are three Passover meals that are recorded during the years of Jesus' earthly ministry. The first one is in John 2, the second in John 6:4, and the third one in 11:55; 12:1; 13:1; 18:28, 39; and 19:14. As the third and last Passover, it occurred the night before Jesus' crucifixion.

What was different about this Seder meal?

Jesus said to His disciples, "I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer." (Luke 22:7-15) What were His feelings going into this meal as opposed to how the disciples were feeling about this night?

This meal in the Upper Room in Jerusalem would signal the last conversation before Jesus' death. What was he trying to communicate to them? What were they understanding and what were they completely missing? (Read John 13-17 for reference)

What are some of the similarities you see between the original Exodus story of the Passover and this meal Jesus is having with His disciples?

Have you ever celebrated a Jewish Passover meal? What was it like?
