The Bread And The Cup
After hearing the explanation of the bread and the cup from the Jewish perspective of the Passover meal, what's changed for you?
What do you think will be different for you next time you take communion?
Imagine what the following year's Passover Seder looked like for the disciples. What would some of the conversation look like?
"Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth."
How does that ancient Hebrew blessing bring new life to the communion experience?
"Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, Creator of the fruit of the vine."
In the Passover meal, Jesus takes the cup with His disciples and blesses it, but He also says what is found in John 15: "I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."
How can you stay connected to Jesus as the true vine?
